51,xxx Selmer Super Balanced Action Alto Saxophone, 99% Original Lacquer, Video
1952 51,xxx Selmer Super Balanced Action (SBA) alto saxophone with approximately 99% original lacquer. This sax has an ultra-rare F#, which is almost never seen on a Selmer SBA this old. This impeccably preserved sax arrived with mostly original pads and was promptly sent off to Aaron Barnard, who performed a full mechanical overhaul. His work is world class and the way this horn plays is indicative of his craftsmanship. He reused the original resonators. The neck is original to the horn and has a matching serial number. The Chesterfield case is in excellent condition and both zippers function perfectly.
It has that smoky, complex sound that has a sweeter tone than a Mark VI. The horn plays perfectly from top to bottom, and speaks with ease throughout its entire range. It's a very fun, inviting horn to play. What a beauty!
