Here is a rare Adolphe Sax baritone saxophone, made just 10 years after the saxophone was patented. This is the early large bell version, which is almost never seen for sale. Most have either disappeared over time or are found in a museum.

This saxophone just received a complete overhaul and restoration from the repairman who also repairs saxophones for the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. He owns several Adolphe Sax saxophones himself, so he has a great appreciation for these horns. His work balanced restoration and preservation. The Adolphe Sax bell stamp is still clear after all of these years, and most of the saxophone, as it was originally built, is still intact. He used a gentle touch with his restoration work, and will give this horn many more decades (or centuries) of play. This sax comes in a modern hard case, which has been modified to fit this saxophone.

This instrument has a clear, lyrical quality to its sound. It's much more delicate and supple than a modern baritone. The range is from low B to high Eb. This saxophone could be played in a concert tonight, or placed in a museum.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0733/5373/products/Sax-4_17409fa6-a229-40fe-9e42-d7994244cde4.jpg?v=1486725902
