2006 Yamaha YAS-62II Alto Saxophone, Just Serviced, Original Case

Yamaha YAS-62 alto saxophone, s/n C13198, made in 2006. Yamaha does not publish a serial number chart, so DC Sax is building one from the manufacture dates Yamaha gives to owners who ask. Yamaha dated this serial to 2006 and identified it as a YAS-62II. You can check any Yamaha saxophone serial with the DC Sax Yamaha serial number lookup. The chart now holds 20 serials dated by Yamaha, and every one that owners add makes the estimates more accurate. For professional altos and tenors made from 2003 to 2016, the estimate lands within four months of every date Yamaha has given.

The 62 is Yamaha's entry level professional alto and sits just below the Custom series. In my opinion it outshines just about every other professional saxophone in its price range, and plenty that cost two to three times as much. This one is super even from low Bb to high F, easy to play, and the intonation is excellent. The ergonomics are great, as you would expect from Yamaha. The 62II has an updated octave mechanism and comes with the G1 neck, which is a good upgrade from the necks the earlier 62s shipped with.

My repairman just serviced the sax prior to sale. The pads look great and seal well, so the horn plays easily in all registers. The sax is in great overall condition, with some light lacquer wear along the bell rim shown in the photos. It comes in its original Yamaha case.

It is a great step up horn for the advancing player, or for the saxophonist who wants a sax that can do anything with minimal maintenance.
