About DC Sax

I'm Paul Tucker. I started DC Sax in 2014 and I run it myself.

I served for twenty years in The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own" in Washington, DC, retiring as Principal Saxophonist in 2026. I also play with the National Symphony Orchestra, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and the Washington National Opera Orchestra, and I teach a small studio of saxophonists.

I hold degrees in saxophone performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and the Conservatoire National de Région de Cergy-Pontoise in France.

DC Sax buys and sells professional and vintage saxophones. I play every instrument before it is listed and describe what I find.

What DC Sax does

Buy. We buy hundreds of professional and vintage saxophones a year from players, collectors, and families across the country. We send a prepaid, insured shipping label and pay on arrival.

Condition. Each horn goes to the bench before it is listed. The listing states the lacquer percentage, the pad and resonator condition, whether the neck is original, and any repair history. If something is uncertain, the listing says so and the price reflects it.

Sell. Every listing is one instrument, photographed as it is. The photos show the horn that ships.
