1933年 Selmer Super Sax 次中音薩克斯風 18,xxx「Cigar Cutter」,附影片
1933 Selmer Super Sax "Cigar Cutter" Tenor Saxophone, S/N 18677. This is a late-model Selmer Super Sax, stamped SSS on the bell—short for Selmer Super Sax. While the "Cigar Cutter" nickname refers to the distinctive octave mechanism found on earlier examples, Selmer redesigned the octave key around serial number 17250. Fewer than 1,000 tenors were made with this updated design before the Radio Improved model was introduced. Although this horn lacks the traditional Cigar Cutter mechanism, it shares most of the same design characteristics.
The sax was recently serviced by my technician. The pads were regulated and now seal well, ensuring clear response across the range. As is typical for instruments of this age, the lacquer does not appear to be original.
Tonally, this is a beautiful horn to play—dark, full, and incredibly resonant. It opens up easily when pushed, offering the kind of expressive range that vintage Selmers are known for. Includes a vintage Selmer case with a case cover.
