1948 35,xxx Selmer SBA Super Balanced Action Tenor Saxophone, Recent Overhaul, Just Serviced

1948 Selmer Super Balanced Action tenor saxophone, s/n 35298. This is an outstanding sounding horn. It's super resonant and alive, with a dark core and a complex, layered sound. It's easy to get around in all registers, and it plays effortlessly down to low Bb.

The sax arrived with a recent overhaul, and the pads are still in new condition. My repairman just serviced the sax, so the pads are sealing well and the horn feels dialed in. It also came with a microphone pickup in the neck, which he removed and replaced with a flush mount plug. The work was done very well and the plug is barely visible. The neck has a matching serial number and has never been pulled down. Like many horns from this vintage, the lacquer is not original. The sax comes in a Berkeley of London case.
