1969 Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone, s/n 169979. Here's a 1960's era Mark VI in fantastic original condition. The lacquer is original and approximately 99% remains. The sax arrived with all original pads. My tech just serviced the sax, replacing three palm key pads and regulating the rest. Although the pads are old, they seal well and I can play effortlessly in all registers. The action still feels crisp and efficient, like the horn has barely had a chance to break in yet.
Selmer experimented with various bow lengths over the years, and ultimately switched to a medium bow in 1968. The medium bow has the best combination of great intonation excellent tone and responsiveness. These earlier medium bow Mark VI's have an excellent reputation, and this horn certainly fits into that category.
The neck is original to the horn and has never been bent down. The case is in fantastic condition due to the fact that the original owner used a Selmer case cover. Both zippers work and move freely.
