2025 Edition Selmer Supreme alto saxophone, serial number 862500. This is Selmer’s 140th anniversary limited-edition Supreme alto, and Selmer made only 500 alto saxophones in this version. Each one was individually numbered, and this one is number 379 of 500.
What makes the 2025 Edition different from a standard Supreme is primarily the special anniversary finish and detailing. It has a matte black lacquered body and keywork, glossy black crystal key touches, black leather pads with matte black chrome resonators, matte black thumb rests, an engraved body-to-bell ring and guard, and a special black cork neck treatment with natural cork inlay. The engraving is also unique to this edition and was inspired by musical notation, with the design continuing onto the bell, body-to-bell ring, and key guard. It also comes with the unique all-black Supreme case made for this limited edition. Selmer kept the same basic Supreme acoustic design, keywork, and ergonomics, so this has the playing characteristics of the standard Supreme, but in a much rarer and more visually striking limited-edition package.
This saxophone is in new condition. The original owner only played it a handful of times before I acquired it, and I do not see any wear, scratches, or signs of use. It could easily pass for a brand-new instrument.
The Supreme is Selmer’s current top professional alto model, designed to have a very even scale, refined keywork, excellent response, and a flexible tone that works well across classical, jazz, and commercial playing. This example adds the collectibility of the numbered 2025 Edition while still being a completely practical, modern professional alto. For someone looking for a Supreme that stands apart from the standard production horns, this is a great example in essentially new condition.
