1972 Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone, s/n 204644. This is a fantastic playing Mark VI in the desirable early 200k serial range, offering the classic Selmer feel and sound at a much more accessible price point than just about any other Mark VI alto on the market.

This horn was just serviced by my repairman, who regulated the pads and made sure the sax seals well from top to bottom. The pads are still in great condition with plenty of life left, and the horn feels even, responsive, and ready to go. It should not need anything from its next owner. The sax comes in a ProTec case. 

This alto has a medium bow, which many players feel offers one of the best combination of excellent response, centered tone, and strong intonation. Around the 200k serial number range, Mark VI altos are appreciated for their bright, peppy, and lively playing style, and this horn is a great example of that character.

The saxophone has been previously relacquered, which helps keep the price well below many comparable Mark VI altos. That said, the lower price should not be mistaken for poor performance. In this case, it is the opposite: this is a great-playing Mark VI that offers serious value for a player looking for the Selmer Mark VI experience without spending a crazy amount.

This horn is priced at thousands less than many other Mark VI altos currently available, making it an excellent option for a player who wants a responsive, well-serviced vintage Selmer at a much more approachable price.
