87,xxx Selmer Mark VI Alto Saxophone, Original Lacquer, Medium Bow, High F#, Video
1960 Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone, s/n 87127. The lacquer is original and approximately 85% remains. If you're looking for a Mark VI that's the best of the best, look no further. This is a medium bow, 5-digit horn that also has a rare high F# key. Selmer experimented with different bow lengths in the 1950's and made a very small run of medium bow altos like this one. Most agree that the medium bow was Selmer's best Mark VI alto design. The best bow length, added to the fact that this has the 5-digit Selmer sound and build quality, makes this a tremendous Mark VI.
The sax was overhauled by the previous owner with black roo pads and domed rivetless metal resonators. The high F key has a traditional pad but still has the same style of resonator. The sax comes in a Bam Cabine case, which retails for over $400. The horn is playing very well from top to bottom.
