Selmer Mark VI tenor saxophone, s/n 149,xxx. Original lacquer is approximately 75%. Here's a 1960's Mark VI that was produced during one of the best years of Selmer's Mark VI production. The altos of this time period are respected as being the absolute best, and the tenors were also wonderful horns in their own right. This horn is in very good physical shape. There's a fair amount of lacquer loss that you can see in the pictures, and a mic pickup was removed in the neck. Otherwise, it's a well preserved horn that plays wonderfully. It was just serviced by Washington DC's best sax repairman, and it had about half of its pads replaced. The remaining pads look good and everything is sealing perfectly. You won't need to do anything to this horn for many years. The neck is original to the horn and has never been pulled down.
This is a delightful mark VI to play. The tone and response is very even throughout all registers. The Mark VI's of this era have a reputation of getting extra power and oomph, and this one definitely has that. It has the best projection of any mark vi tenor that's currently in the shop. The sax comes in a soft leather case. It has a fair amount of padding, but the new owner may want to consider upgrading to a hard case in order to protect this beauty.
