Yanagisawa SC-880/SC-800 curved soprano saxophone, s/n 122650. Based on the serial number, this saxophone was manufactured in 1983.
I acquired this sax from the original owner, who used it for about one year and then put it away for the next 40 years. It’s in wonderful condition and looks like it has barely been played. The pads are still in great condition and are sealing well.
This is a really fun sax to play. Curved sopranos give you more immediate sonic feedback with the bell facing up, which makes the playing experience feel a little more connected than a straight soprano. This one has a sweet tone, feels easy to get around on, and plays full from low Bb up to high F#. It comes in the original case.
