Vintage Zimberoff House of Note Supersonic alto saxophone mouthpiece. This is an extremely rare vintage 1950's mouthpiece that Bobby Dukoff Made for the House of Note music store in Los Angeles. You can still see the beautiful baffle shape and rounded side walls that made these mouthpieces so coveted. Brian Powell recently refaced the mouthpiece, as the rails were quite uneven from years of playing. The results are wonderful. It's easy blowing and has an enormous dark jazz sound that can still project with ease. The original tip opening is a 5, which you can see stamped into the side of the mouthpiece. The tip opening currently measures .072".
I acquired this mouthpiece from a legendary West Coast repairman who was cleaning out his huge collection of mouthpieces. This gem was included in the lot.
