1960 King Super 20 Alto Saxophone, S/N 376695. This is an original lacquer Cleveland-era King Super 20 in outstanding condition. The lacquer is original and approximately 99% intact. The pads are in excellent shape, with nearly all of their life remaining. It features flat riveted metal resonators, similar to the original factory setup.
The sax was just serviced by my technician, so the pads seal well and the entire range speaks effortlessly. It includes a sterling silver double-socket neck—an feature available only on early Super 20s. The bell keys feature the distinctive sunburst engraving, which was phased out later in the 1960s.
This horn delivers a gorgeous sound—darker in character, but with tremendous power when pushed. The tone is highly resonant and projects with ease. It’s easy to channel a Cannonball Adderley vibe on this instrument. Highly recommended.
