1964 112,xxx Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone. Here's an early Mark VI that is an absolute monster of a player. It just received a top of the line overhaul from Aaron Barnard, who is one of the very best repairmen in the business. His work is top notch and uses the best materials available, including Pisoni Pro pads. The sax comes in a brand new Bam Cabine Panther case, which is the best case out there, in my opinion. The neck is a perfect match for this horn, although it doesn't have any stamped serial number on it.
This sax arrived with a very old coat of non-original lacquer, which was still in decent condition. The sax was sent to Indiana to have the engraving expertly recut, and then onto Aaron, who performed his Bare Naked overhaul, chemically stripping the old coat of lacquer, never seeing a buffing wheel. Mark VI's in the early 100's are incredible horns. Up until 117,xxx, they have the older style side Bb and C mechanism, which is vastly preferred by most players, compared to the later ball and socket mechanism that can be loud and can have a ton of lost motion if not regulated properly. This older style is quiet and efficient.
