JL Woodwinds Phoenix 86X tenor saxophone, s/n 00006. This is a rare model, and presumably from the serial number, just the sixth one ever made. I presume based on the 86X that it is inspired by the 1960 Selmer Mark VI.
This horn plays beautifully, with a full, resonant tone and quick, even response across the entire range. The low register, in particular, speaks effortlessly and with warmth. It is in impeccable condition and was previously owned by a New York City–based professional saxophonist who maintained it in top playing shape.
