Selmer Series II Soprano Saxophone, Near Mint, Just Serviced
Selmer Series II soprano saxophone, s/n 414223. Here’s a gorgeous Series II soprano that could almost pass as a new saxophone. There are zero dents or dings, and it truly looks like it has barely been played in its lifetime. My repairman just serviced the sax and adjusted the pads so they seal well. The pads are in like new condition and should last for years before needing to be replaced.
The most notable difference between the Series II and Series III soprano is that this sax is constructed as a single body instrument, without a removable neck. In my opinion, that is a sonic upgrade. There is a directness to the sound and response that I do not think is possible in quite the same way with the Series III. It does a great job capturing the tonal clarity and focus of a Mark VI soprano, but with modern ergonomics and a neck strap ring that make it much easier to play.
This soprano has a focused, clear sound and an easy response throughout the range. It has some of the clarity and immediacy that I associate with a great Mark VI soprano, but with the comfort and practicality of a more modern Selmer.
