How to sell your saxophone See the altos in stock1960 Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone, s/n 90287. This sax has its original lacquer with approximately 90% still present. The neck is original to the horn with a matching serial number, and it has not been bent down. There are no resolders, and the bell flare looks great. The sax comes in its original case.
The previous owner recently had the sax overhauled, and the pads are still in new condition. My repairman just serviced it prior to sale. The pads seal perfectly, the horn feels very well adjusted, and it speaks effortlessly down to low Bb.
Altos from around 90,xxx through the early 100,xxx range have a great reputation. They tend to have a bigger, fuller voice, with more body in the low register. That's exactly what I hear in this one.
This sax has a really nice sound. It's big and rich in harmonics, and I'd put it slightly on the bright side tonally. The long bow gives the low register a lot of body, and the bell notes speak easily. This is an outstanding example of a late 5-digit alto that really sings.
