1957 71,xxx Selmer Mark VI Alto Saxophone, 98% Original Lacquer, Overhaul
1957 71,xxx Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone. Here's a 1950's 5-digit Mark VI alto that is in incredible original condition. The lacquer is original and approximately 98% intact. The horn just received a top of the line overhaul by Aaron Barnard, who is the best in the business. He uses top of the line parts including Pisoni Pro pads and reusable metal TM resonators. His keywork is amazing, giving this horn the feel of a new saxophone. The sax arrived with a mic pickup. Aaron removed it and installed a flush plug, which is almost invisible without taking a close look. There's also a small area on the back top side of the bell that's missing lacquer, caused by a sticker that the original dealer placed on the horn. The neck is original to the horn and has a matching serial number.
This is a very charming Mark VI to play. The tone is very even from top to bottom and everything pops out with ease from low Bb to high F. The tone is complex and beautiful, as one would expect with a prime 5-digit Mark VI.
