1959 83,xxx Selmer Mark VI Tenor Saxophone BRECKER S/N
1959 83,xxx Selmer Mark VI tenor saxophone. This is right smack in the middle of the very best Mark VI's Selmer ever produced. This is a wonderful horn that was very lightly played in its life. It just received a cleaning and regulation from DC's top repairman, and about half of its pads were replaced. The horn plays wonderfully right now and will not need anything for years.
This is a two-owner horn. Both owners played the horn very little, so the action feels very tight. The second owner decided to relacquer the horn for purely cosmetic reasons. Judging by its condition (and amazing sound and presence), it was done extremely gently. It was never buffed, as you can see by the deep engraving that still present. The Mark VI stamp near the octave key is still deep and visible. The finish is quite striking. Since the horn was never buffed, it has an almost matte finish, like modern Selmer saxes with the same type of finish. It's truly a great looking (and playing horn).
