1962 102,xxx Selmer Mark VI Alto Saxophone, Just Serviced
1962 102,xxx Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone. This sax was acquired from the nephew of the original owner, and is in remarkable physical condition. There are no dents, and it's very clean overall. The neck appears to be from the same vintage, and doesn't have a serial number present. The sax comes in a new/never used Bam case. My tech serviced the horn prior to sale, replacing several pads and regulating the rest. Although the lacquer doesn't appear to be original, it was most likely done at the Selmer factory, as the original lacquer ring appears on the outside of the pads.
This is a great sounding Mark VI, and it outplays many horns twice its value. The sax has a rich, complex sound. It's very even from top to bottom. If you're looking for an early Mark VI alto and you're on a budget, you'll be hard pressed to find a better horn than this one.
