1963 110,xxx Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone with approximately 98% original lacquer. This sax previously belonged to a longtime member of the Stan Kenton Orchestra, who was a saxophonist and arranger for the group. The condition of the horn is quite good for its age. T he neck is original to the horn and has a matching serial number. The case, although somewhat worn, is still in good condition. The sax has been regularly maintained and has a mix of mostly newer pads with a lot of life still left in them.
The sax is playing well as-is but will receive a full service prior to shipping out. The cost of the repairs is included with the sax. It will be ready to ship as early as mid-August.
This sax has a long bow, which Selmer made from 1959-1966. Characteristically, they tend to have a bit more power and depth to the sound. Intonation is quite good on a long bow. Low C# and C tend to be a bit flat, but the rest of the range is remarkably in tune. I love this serial number range for both altos and tenors. They are the same design as the late 5-digit serial number range, but can be a fantastic value if you're not chasing a 5-digit horn.
