1930's Leblanc SRB Alto Saxophone, S/N 4
Leblanc SRB Alto Saxophone, s/n 4 – Near Mint, 1930's, Rare Early Example
Here’s a rare find: a Leblanc SRB alto saxophone, serial number 4. This is one of the very first examples of the model ever made. Leblanc only made around 200 SRB saxophones in total. It’s in remarkable, near mint condition with minimal wear—an exceptional preservation of Leblanc’s early professional saxophone craftsmanship.
These horns are rare and reflect a moment in saxophone design history when manufacturers were actively experimenting with improvements to both playability and acoustics—often pushing beyond what the market was ready to accept.
The neck shows some cosmetic variation from the body, but it is original to the horn. This is consistent with other early SRB examples and is not the result of a replacement or mismatch.
This sax plays beautifully with a full, even scale and a resonant, responsive core. A fantastic option for a serious collector seeking one of the first SRBs ever produced.
Includes the original Leblanc case.
