1936 23,xxx Selmer Balanced Action (BA) Tenor Saxophone, Overhaul
1936 Selmer Balanced Action (BA) tenor saxophone, s/n 23289. This sax received a full overhaul from Saxquest in 2025. The horn is playing great and the pads are still in like new condition. It's set up with domed rivetless reusable TM resonators.
The sax sounds exactly like a good Balanced Action tenor should. Warm, rich, and wide, with a tone quality that is unmistakably vintage Selmer.
Selmer tried to recreate the Balanced Action tenor with the Reference 36. The Reference 36 is a great horn, but it's never going to replace a good Balanced Action tenor. This sax is 90 years old and still feels completely relevant. It's capable of giving its next owner many decades of playing.
