Selmer Mark VII Alto Saxophone, Video, Near Mint, Just Serviced
Selmer Mark VII alto saxophone, s/n 299138. Here's a vintage Selmer that's nearly 50 years old that can almost pass for a new saxophone. I acquired this horn from the original owner, who used it for a year or so before it was put away for the following decades. My repairman just serviced the sax prior to sale. He replaced five pads and a key cork.
Although Mark VII's don't have as good of a reputation as the Mark VI, they can still be fabulous horns. They tend to be a bit darker tonally than most Mark VI's, but with a ton of power and energy in the sound. I like how this horn plays and I'd be very happy to take it to a gig tonight. Immanuel Wilkins plays a Mark VII, and listening to him play on his shows how special these horns can be. They have an unmistakable vintage Selmer sound, and can often be found for a fraction of the price of a Mark VI.
