Meyer Bros Tru-Flex alto saxophone mouthpiece. Here is a rare vintage New York Meyer Bros mouthpiece that rarely comes up for sale. It was originally stamped a 4 and was refaced by Ramon Wodkowski to .078", the equivalent of a 6. Ramon also flattened the table, removing the original Tru-Flex indentation and stamp. Flattening the table on this model is a necessary step for this model. A flattened table ensures the reed sits properly and prevents warping.
This mouthpiece was previously owned by David Jones, the principal clarinetist of the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra. It was one of two New York Meyer alto mouthpieces that he used regularly. This one wasn't getting as much playing time, so he decided to part ways with it.
Sonically, this plays a lot like other New York Meyer Bros mouthpieces but with a touch more finesse and sweetness. I really like how this plays and think it would be a fantastic alto mouthpiece for just about any player.
