Yamaha YPC-82 professional piccolo, s/n 101326. Unlike the YPC-32 and YPC-62, the YPC-82 is fully handmade in Yamaha's custom shop, and it is the only model in the lineup with a sterling silver headjoint. It's in great condition and playing beautifully.

This piccolo was formerly owned by a member of the United States Naval Academy Band in Annapolis, MD, and it has been well cared for. The wood has no cracks, the keywork is tight and quiet, and the pads seal well. It is an earlier production example of the YPC-82, which Yamaha has kept largely unchanged as the top of its handmade grenadilla line.

The YPC-82 is known for exactly the things you want from a great piccolo: an even scale, excellent intonation, and quick response in all registers. The sterling silver headjoint with lip plate gives it more clarity and carrying power than the all wood YPC-81. The grenadilla body keeps the sound warm and centered. This model is a favorite of doublers and flutists who want a piccolo that is dependable without a lot of fuss.
