Yanagisawa S992 Soprano Saxophone, Solid Bronze
Yanagisawa S992 soprano saxophone. This is Yanagisawa's top of the line soprano saxophone, that many consider the finest modern soprano saxophone ever made. The body of the sax is solid bronze, and it's keyed to high G, which is a must these days for demanding soprano work. The 992 model designates that the body of the sax is made from solid bronze. The bronze adds an extra layer of richness and depth to the sound, whereas the 991 has a clearer and more focused tone. The difference between these two models is somewhat like comparing the sound of a Yamaha 52 (clear) to a Yamaha Custom (richer and more layered tone). The sax plays remarkably well in tune and speaks clearly and effortlessly in all registers.
The sax is in excellent shape. The previous owner took great care of the horn, and there are no dents or bends. The pads are also in excellent shape. My repairman performed a full setup on the horn, so the pads seal well and the horn plays great in all registers. The sax comes with two necks: straight and curved, both of which offer slightly different playing characteristics.
