1961 Selmer Mark VI baritone saxophone, s/n 90949. The sax was just serviced by my repairman prior to sale. About half of the pads look like they were recently replaced, so there's a mix of pads on the horn, but they all seal well and it's easy to get down to low Bb. The neck is original to the sax and has a matching serial number. The lacquer is not original, and there's quite a bit of body wear from 65+ years of playing. None of that matters when you play it. This horn has a great, assertive, even voice.

If you're shopping for a bari these days, you have two ways to go. You can get a low A horn, which gives you the pedal C. But that extra key and tubing adds weight, and you feel it. The other option is a great sounding low Bb horn like this one. These are more responsive, easier to sing on, and easier to be expressive with. They're lighter, which makes a real difference on a long rehearsal or a four hour gig. And because low Bb horns are priced well below their low A equivalents, you get a lot more horn for your money. For most players, a Mark VI low Bb bari is the smarter buy.

The sax comes in a form fitting SKB case that is lightweight, protects the horn very well, and rolls on its own wheels, which you'll appreciate the first time you have to get it across a parking lot.
