Yamaha Serial Number Project

Yamaha does not publish serial number charts for its saxophones. I am collecting serial numbers and dates for professional Yamaha saxophones so I can build one. This covers the 61 and 62 series and the Custom models: 855, 875, 875EX, 82Z, the Custom sopranos and the YBS-82. Student and intermediate models are not part of this.

Yamaha will tell you when your horn was made

Email bandandorchestra@yamaha.com with the model and serial number. Most people hear back within a few days. If you have that answer, enter it below. It is the most useful date you can give.

Yamaha USA has little on horns made before about 1990 and nothing on horns first sold outside the United States. For those, a purchase date helps, but only if the horn was bought new and you are sure of the year. Please do not guess.

Select your model

Pick the model as it is stamped on the horn. A 62II or 62III is stamped 62. An 82ZII is stamped 82Z.

Include every letter and every leading zero.
