164,xxx Selmer Mark VI Tenor Saxophone, Unlacquered, Overhaul, Video
1969 Selmer Mark VI Tenor Saxophone, S/N 164601. This sax was recently given a full mechanical overhaul by Eric Beach, one of the top saxophone technicians in the field. Eric uses premium materials, including Pisoni Pro pads, and is known for going far beyond a basic repad. His work includes a full mechanical rebuild, with particular attention to key fitting. The result is a horn that feels exceptionally tight and responsive—likely better than it has in decades.
When the sax arrived, it had a non-original lacquer finish that showed noticeable wear. We opted to have the lacquer professionally and chemically removed—a meticulous process that brings out the natural beauty of the brass in a way that suits the horn’s vintage character.
The neck is original to the horn. It was previously repaired with solder to fill in a hairline crack along the curve of the neck. It comes in a vintage Selmer case. This is a well playing Mark VI that’s ready for serious playing.
