178,xxx Selmer Mark VI Alto Saxophone, Video Demo, Near Mint
Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone, s/n 178341. This is an impeccable Mark VI that has virtually all of its original lacquer intact. I received this sax from its original owner who hadn't played it in decades. From the look of it, I'm guessing that it was played for maybe a year or two and then put away until I acquired it. The neck is original and has never been bent down. The pads are all original and don't appear to have been used much. My repairman serviced the horn, so it's playing extremely well on the original pads. I can get down to low Bb with ease. The action still feels great on this sax, which is understandable given how little its been played in its lifetime. The case is also original and both zippers work.
This horn is a joy to play. It has the power and focus of a good Mark VI, but there's a very nice evenness throughout that gives it an uncommon level of precision. It's colorful and expressive. Highly recommended!
