1937 Selmer Balanced Action tenor saxophone, s/n 23455. Balanced Action tenors are known for their big, centered sound with a lot of core and depth. This one has that classic Selmer voice. Dark, full, and flexible, with excellent projection when pushed. The response is even throughout the range, and it speaks easily down low.
The previous owner switched out the right hand thumb hook with a modern hook, which is a lot more comfortable than the original one. The sax comes with the original thumb hook in case the next owner decides to go back to the original. It was just serviced by my repairman prior to sale. The sax is playing very well on pads that are mostly on the older side. The neck is in great condition and has never been bent down. It has a patch from an old mic pickup. The sax comes in a vintage Selmer case.
