1947 King Super 20 Tenor Saxophone, First Series, Video, Overhaul
1947 King Super 20 Tenor Saxophone, s/n 290186. This is a first series King Super 20 tenor saxophone from 1947, freshly overhauled by Eric Beach. It has all the early features you’d want—solid silver neck, double socket, full pearls—including on the palm keys, side keys, and G#.
The horn just received a top-shelf overhaul from Eric, one of the best techs in the business. He did a full mechanical rebuild using Pisoni Pro pads and domed rivetless metal resonators. The result is a horn that plays effortlessly from top to bottom with a tight, responsive feel and balanced resistance. It’s sealing perfectly and ready to go. The case is original to the horn. The sterling neck has a matching serial number and has never been bent down.
This Super 20 has a big sound that leans dark but is rich in overtones. It has that wide, complex core you look for in the early Kings, with plenty of projection and depth.
