1947 Selmer Super Balanced Action SBA Alto Saxophone, Overhaul, Original Lacquer
1947 Selmer Super Balanced Action alto saxophone, s/n 36058. This saxophone has its original lacquer with 99% still present. It was just overhauled by Eric Beach, who is one of the best in the business. Eric used top of the line materials, including Pisoni Pro pads and domed rivetless metal resonators, similar in profile to what this horn originally was equipped with. What sets Eric's work apart from many is the considerable time and effort he puts into perfecting the keywork. This is not just a standard repad, but a mechanical rebuild, ensuring that the keys don't bind or have extra play. The process is time consuming, but the results speak for themselves. The keys move effortlessly with a degree precision that this horn probably hasn't had since it was new over 75 years ago.
This sax looks like its barely been played in its lifetime. The lacquer is in gorgeous condition. There are zero dents or resolders and very few scratches. The Chesterfield case has been covered most of its life so is in great shape although one of the zippers is disconnected and can only zip up half way. The neck has a matching serial number and has never been bent down.
