1949 Buescher 400 Top Hat and Cane tenor saxophone, s/n 319793. This sax was just serviced by my repairman prior to sale. He replaced 4 pads and 9 key corks, then adjusted the remaining pads so they seal well. Most of the remaining pads appear to be original. My repairman kept all of the original metal resonators, so the horn still has its complete original set of resonators along with the Norton gold springs.

The Top Hat and Cane was Buescher's top of the line 400 model, offered alongside the Aristocrat Big B. The two horns share a lot in common, but the 400 was a more elaborate design, with a larger bell and wider bottom bow, rear-facing bell keys, an underslung octave key and the distinctive silver ring around the bell flare. These horns have a really unique combination of power and sweetness. They can take a tremendous amount of air when you push them, but still have an incredibly rich, warm, resonant Buescher sound.

The sax is in great shape overall. The bell flare looks excellent. The neck is original to the horn and has never been pulled down. It's nice to find one with so many of the original Buescher components still intact, especially the complete set of original resonators and Norton springs. The sax comes in its original case, which is also in great condition.
