195,xxx Selmer Mark VI Tenor Saxophone, Fresh Overhaul
1971 Selmer Mark VI tenor saxophone, s/n 195951. This is a very strong later Mark VI and a true player’s horn. Mark VIs in the 200,000 serial range often represent an excellent value, offering much of what players love about the model at a more approachable price point. This one plays exceptionally well. It is very even throughout the range, with consistently quick response and a lower register that speaks effortlessly. The sax no longer has its original lacquer, but the relacquer was done well and does not seem to have compromised the way the instrument plays.
The previous owner had the horn overhauled just before I acquired it, so the pads, corks, and felts are all in new condition. My repairman has since gone over the sax and made sure everything is sealing properly. It is playing very well, and I think its next owner will be very pleased with it.
