43,xxx Selmer Super Balanced Action Alto Saxophone
1950 43,xxx Selmer Super Balanced Action (SBA) alto saxophone. Here's a great playing SBA alto that just received a full mechanical overhaul from Eric Beach, who is one of the very best repairmen out there. He uses top of the line parts including Pisoni Pro pads. For this one, he used domed metal resonators, similar in style and proportion to the original resonators that came with the horn.
The sax is in excellent overall condition and is very straight for a horn of its age. The neck is original to the horn and has a matching serial number. As you can see, the engraving is clear, crisp and incredibly detailed. The sax was previously relacquered, but it appears as if whoever was doing it was an expert. The horn has incredibly detailed engraving with few signs of buffing. The tone holes look great and were not excessively buffed. The sax comes with a brand new top of the line Bam Cabine case.
This SBA alto is a beauty to play on. It has a very sweet, expressive sound that is remarkably efficient and dynamic. Many alto players prefer the SBA over more modern Selmers because of its enchanting sound and musicality. This one is no different. It's a world class alto.
