How to sell your saxophone See the altos in stock1952 Selmer Super Balanced Action (SBA) alto saxophone, s/n 46917. This is a great sounding SBA with a compact core and plenty of projection behind it. I think it can work just as well as a lead alto as it can in a combo.
The sax was just serviced by my repairman prior to sale. He replaced one pad and regulated the rest, so the horn is feeling locked in. The pads are in great condition with most of their life remaining.
The sax has almost none of its lacquer left, and I really like the way it looks. The oxidation is all surface level and cosmetic. It is always difficult to say with certainty whether a horn with this little lacquer has been relacquered. After looking it over carefully, I am going to call it a relacquer to be on the safe side, although it would not surprise me if others disagreed. The engraving is very clear on the bell and looks a little more faded on the bow. I do not see any other areas that give an obvious indication that the finish is not original.
The neck is original to the horn and has a matching serial number. It has never been pulled down. The sax comes in a ProTec case.
