1953 Selmer Super Balanced Action Tenor Saxophone, Video Demo
1953 Selmer Super Balanced Action SBA tenor saxophone, s/n 54482. This is a tremendous sounding late SBA tenor that was previously owned by a saxophonist in a DC military jazz band. This was his gigging horn for several years, so it is set up and playing very well. The pads are still in good condition and have a lot of life left in them. The sax has domed rivetless metal resonators, similar to what the sax originally came with. The pads are sealing well enough that you could take this horn to a gig tonight. Like the majority of horns of this era, the sax likely doesn't have its original coat of lacquer. The neck is original to the horn and has a matching serial number. This is a very responsive, powerful SBA. It has an insane amount of projection with the tonal complexity you expect from a horn of this vintage.
