1954 Selmer Mark VI Tenor Saxophone, 95% Original Lacquer
1954 Selmer Mark VI tenor saxophone, s/n 55,84x. Here's a beautiful example of one of the very first Mark VI tenors ever made. The lacquer is around 95% intact, and the overall condition is excellent. The neck is perfect without any pulldown, and has the matching s/n. It also has the rare "double S" logo, which if you look closely is actually an S and C for Selmer et Cie. The bow has had some dentwork done to it, but overall the condition is excellent for its age.
The tone has a vocal quality to it. The core is warm and complex. The sax plays well on an older set of pads, but they are nearing the end of their useful life and should be replaced soon. If you're interested in including a top of the line overhaul with the sax, please contact me for a quote. The sax comes in a vintage Selmer case with a leather case cover in good condition.
