1955 Selmer Mark VI Alto Saxophone 59,xxx, 90% Original Lacquer
1955 Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone, s/n 59,xxx with 90%+ original lacquer. Here is a wonderful example of an early Mark VI which is in great shape for its age. The horn is very free blowing and projects very well. These early short bow Mark VI's are quite fun to play. They feel nimble and flexible, and have a ton of power and energy. The neck is original to the horn and has the matching serial number.
Cosmetically, the horn is in excellent shape. There are some dents which were previously removed (under the G# pearl felt, near the high F key, 1-2 on the bow, small dent work done on the neck) and it appears as if the low C key guard foot came off and was resoldered. Otherwise, the horn is in great shape. The horn just came back from the shop and my repairman replaced 4 pads. The others are in great shape and nothing needs to be done to the horn. The pads have mostly domed metal resonators, similar to the ones that originally came with Selmers of this vintage.
The sax comes in a vintage Selmer case you can see in the pics. However, please contact me if you're interested in upgrading to a top of the line Bam case. DC Sax is now a Bam dealer, so we can offer you a great price on a new Bam case.
