1958 Martin Committee III Baritone Saxophone
1958 Martin Committee baritone saxophone, s/n 204898. This gorgeous sax recently arrived with all original pads. My tech just serviced the sax, replacing one pad, three felts and the water key cork. He also removed a few dings in the bell section. The upper U tube is slightly bent in. After discussing this with my tech, we decided to leave this as is, but the next owner could unsolder this joint to completely repair this area. It's still in great overall shape, with 99% of the original lacquer still present. The neck is original to the horn and has a matching serial number. The neck has never been bent down. The case is original to the horn. There is an old case odor that is still a bit present, so it will likely need some additional airing out. The sax comes with the original Martin mouthpiece along with a vintage ligature and cap.
This sax has a very warm, rich sound that is quite a departure from modern horns. There's a sweetness to its sound that I really like. This sax is keyed down to low Bb.
