1963 108,xxx Selmer Mark VI Alto Saxophone, Overhaul, Video
1963 Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone, s/n 108949. Here is a stunning looking vintage Mark VI that just received a full mechanical overhaul from Eric Beach. His work is top notch, and the horn feels incredibly locked in. Eric used Pisoni Pro pads and domed plastic resonators, similar to what this horn originally came with. The neck has never been bent down and has a matching serial number. The chesterfield case is is excellent condition. One zipper is missing, but the other moves freely.
When I acquired the sax, all of the pads appeared to be original, with the typical lacquer ring on the outside of the pads. This is usually a clear indication that the lacquer is original. However, I can't say with 100% certainty that this sax has its original lacquer. The blue S logo on the neck doesn't appear to be original. Also, there are some irregularities in the lacquer that make me think that this could be an incredibly well done factory relacquer. Regardless, this is a beautiful horn that could probably pass for original in most circles. Take a close look at the pictures and decide for yourself.
