1964 117,xxx Selmer Mark VI Tenor Saxophone, Original Lacquer, Just Serviced
1964 Selmer Mark VI tenor saxophone, s/n 117134. This horn has its original lacquer with about 90 percent still remaining. It comes from a great mid 1960s vintage and is one of the last Mark VIs built with the older style side Bb and C mechanism before Selmer switched to the ball and socket design.
My repairman just serviced the sax. The pads are in excellent condition and he regulated everything so it seals cleanly. He also replaced a few corks and checked the overall setup. The horn has metal domed rivetless resonators.
The neck is original to the horn, has a matching serial number, and has never been pulled down.
This is an outstanding playing Mark VI with the dark expressive tone you expect from a mid 1960s example. It responds easily, has a big voice when pushed, and feels solid and balanced from top to bottom.
