1964 118,xxx Selmer Mark VI Alto Saxophone, 99% Original Lacquer, Just Serviced
1964 Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone, s/n 118805. This is a beautiful early-1960s Mark VI alto with nearly all of its original lacquer intact. It’s clear the previous owner took excellent care of the instrument. I do not see any signs of trauma, major repair work, or resoldering. The neck is original, has a matching serial number, and has not been pulled down.
This horn is also one of the later Mark VIs to retain the older-style side Bb and C mechanism before Selmer changed to the less popular ball-and-socket design. It comes in its original case, which is also in very good condition.
The sax was just serviced by my repairman prior to sale. He replaced one pad and several corks, and regulated the rest of the pads. While the pads are older, they are sealing well and the horn plays easily in all registers, and I can whisper down to low Bb.
