1965 127,xxx Selmer Mark VI Alto Saxophone, Near Mint, High F#, WOW!
1965 Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone, s/n 127372. This is a remarkable example of a mid 1960's Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone. It’s one of the nicest Mark VIs to ever come through the shop. It's nearly mint, and easily one of the cleanest horns I’ve seen in quite awhile.
It was just serviced by my tech and needs nothing. He replaced one pad; the rest are original and still sealing well. The horn plays effortlessly from top to bottom with that classic Mark VI warmth, focus, and power. The response is immediate and even, with an incredibly resonant core that feels alive under the fingers.
Cosmetically, it’s about as close to perfect as a 1960s Selmer gets. The lacquer is nearly 100% intact, with virtually no blemishes or wear anywhere on the body or keys. The engraving is deep and crisp, and there are no resoldered posts. The neck is original to the horn and has a matching serial number. This is a collector-grade instrument that also happens to play like a dream. If you’ve been holding out for a truly exceptional mid-1960s Mark VI, this one checks every box.
