1969 170,xxx Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone with approximately 96% original lacquer. This is a one-owner sax that was overhauled just prior to sale by its previous owner, so the pads are in new/unused condition. The action feels tight and crisp, as you'd expect with a good overhaul. Cosmetically, the sax looks great for being over 50 years old. The neck looks like it has some overspray lacquer near the neck cork, but the neck is original and has never been bent down. The bell flare is perfect.
I really like altos from this serial number range. They have a great combination of power and finesse. This one plays very evenly from top to bottom and has a gorgeous centered sound that is complex without being too brash. If you're looking for a great playing Mark VI alto, this one should be at the top of your list.
