209,xxx Selmer Mark VI Tenor Saxophone, Just Serviced, Video
209,xxx Selmer Mark VI tenor saxophone. Here is a one-owner saxophone that came all the way from Hawaii. My repairman serviced the sax prior to sale, replacing 8 pads, and a total of 40 key corks, felts and bumpers. He adjusted the taper/angle of the neck and repaired the bow seam, which had come apart. He also leveled tone holes, as needed.
The saxophone doesn't have its original finish, and I'd guess that the corrosive salt air it spent its previous life in has something to do with this. Despite this, I'd classify this horn as a true player's horn. It will never win a beauty contest, but the horn really delivers when it comes to playability and response. The sax sounds and responds like an earlier vintage, as it's not overly bright and aggressive. It has a thick, lush sound that takes on air evenly through all registers and dynamics. For the money, you'll have a hard time finding a Mark VI that truly delivers like this one.
