1947 35,xxx Selmer Super Balanced Action tenor saxophone. Here is a rare SBA that is an incredible playing horn from top to bottom. This sax just received a full mechanical overhaul from Aaron Barnard, who is one of the best in the business. In addition to his usual outstanding work, Aaron installed metal tone hole crescents on the low C#, B and Bb tone holes in order to bring down the pitch. The response still feels even and the intonation is locked in. The original neck has a matching serial number and has never been bent down. The sax comes in a new top of the line Bam Cabine case that retails for $400. The sax has does not have the original finish, but the engraving is still 100% present and looks great.
This is a monster horn. It has that great SBA vibe to it. Huge yet controllable, complex sound. It sings when pushed with lots of harmonics. Punchy and focused, yet very even and responsive in all registers. This is what a vintage Selmer sound is all about.
